I began making pottery in June 2021 as a creative outlet from my technical day job as a process and quality engineer. I very quickly fell in love with the craft, spending weekday nights and weekends taking classes, watching tutorials, reading books, and talking to professionals.
By 2022, I had more than enough pieces of my work piling up in my kitchen and decided it was finally time to sell them to the friends and family members that had been asking to buy them. I then started bisc pottery, and to my surprise, strangers from all across the country were buying my pieces.
All pottery begins it's journey in the form of a large lump of clay. The clay can then be shaped into various cylindrical forms on the wheel. Once the clay form is finalized, it must sit for several days, slowly drying and releasing its moisture. The dried clay is then ready for it's first firing - the bisque fire.
bisque = bisc
The bisc'd clay is my favorite step - a blank canvas for me to play with. Just like biscware, bisc is a blank canvas. Always evolving, always experimenting, always creating.
The logo is made of an outline of four different pottery silhouettes. Each outline also serves as a letter in the name bisc. The two work together to create a dynamic logo that can be interpreted as pottery illustrations or the brand name.
